Transportation

Both Indian Airlines and East West Airlines operate in the state. Guwhati, the principal airport in the north east region. It is connected directly with Calcutta, New Delhi, Bagdora and Patna by the Indian Airlines and the East West Airlines. Other airports to which Indian Airlines operate are Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Jezpur, North Lakhimpur & Silchar. Indian Airlines and Vayudoot also connect Guwahati to the capitals of all North-East states.

Assam is well connected by train with the rest of the country. There are train services from Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Bangalore, Cochin & Trivandram. B.G. line connects upto Guwhati and M.G. line with Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Diphu. Guwhati. Dimapur. Haflong and Silchar.

A network of national Highways and other all weather roads connects all important places of Assam. All the towns Assam are well connected by the Assam State Transport Corporation and other tourist bus services. These buses also ply to the capitals of the neighboring states, besides, the department of tourism has a fleet of luxury buses and jeeps for hire.
